The 2023 Rauser Carignan is ruby red with fragrance of dried cranberry, ripe cherry and earth all of which continue onto the palate round and soft. The red fruits are spiked with spices that hint at cinnamon, black pepper, and a dusting of cayenne. Tannins are subtle and build with each sip. The wine remains on the palate, spicy, warm and earthy.
One of our early sources for the Rosé, we considered the Rauser Carignan to be found treasure. This ancient vineyard planted in the early 1900s and located within the “Victor Triangle” produces unexpectedly bright fruit.
