Beyond Zinfandel, A New Energy Drives Lodi Wines

Editor at Large, Jim Gordon recently visited Lodi and shared his impressions of this highly diverse wine region where more than 130 different varieties are grown. The article, "Beyond Zinfandel, A New Energy Drives Lodi Wines" can be found on  JamesSuckling.com along with ratings of the wines from some of my favorite fellow producers including Markus Bokisch and Markus Niggli both who supply grapes to Lorenza.

I am beyond thrilled to have one of our Lorenza wines in the Top 5 rated and three wines in the Top 20 rated wines of Lodi.

Gordon quotes: "It’s difficult to think of a wine region where a list of the 12 top-rated wines would include all of these varieties: chenin blanc, tempranillo, zinfandel, albariño, cinsault, shiraz and pinot grigio."

"Winemakers from outside the area, too, have been drawn to Lodi for good-quality grapes that are priced much, much lower than in Napa or Sonoma. Look for very good examples from wineries like Lorenza Mythical, Covenant Bedrock Massican
